I mean really, even when you're married a quick way to destruction is to think that your spouse is going to solve all your problems and be your savior. The remedy to the "D.I.D" complex is not simply expecting more of a man, because a lot of times women worry about really stupid things and expect really stupid things (and I know it, being a woman), but simply changing the focus from trusting in man to trusting in Jesus. Women do love intensely, and it's great to love intensely- but if a woman pours all her love in a vessel that isn't meant to hold all of it, why should she be surprised when it spills all over the floor and is wasted? The only remedy is the first commandment- God is so practical isn't he? Loving God with all her heart, soul, and mind lets the woman remain full and herself even when the man is being an idiot, or when there is no man there to love the woman- and you can also pray for a man who will love you in that beautiful, normal, simple yet awesomely sacrificial way. Really, Christianity makes way too much sense. Isn't it nice?

God Bless you!!Good Thunderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01933236363456387695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20132742.post-1500903432336174892009-08-10T10:37:28.107-07:002009-08-10T10:37:28.107-07:00That is a fantastic movie! That is a fantastic movie!Erin Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12470269792589369293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20132742.post-53892636877290199372009-08-10T09:30:12.090-07:002009-08-10T09:30:12.090-07:00the more things change, the more they stay the sam...the more things change, the more they stay the same. Thus the patterns of human life repeat, the whirlygig of time brings about its revenges, and human nature proves to be, as yet, unchanging.

If you want to see a movie about real heroism aboard the Titanic (and probably far more accurate to the real event - given the times) see this:
A Night To Remember
My favorite scene is where the father sets his wife and little children into the lifeboat and waves goodbye to them, refusing to take a place himself b/c he knows there are too few positions and too many people, knowing that he himself would probably die. The sexual revolucion of the 60s (still ongoing) only complicated things by suggested that "empowerment" through the pill, abortion, and rampant casual sex could nullify the need to make this choice. Taint necessarily so. Women still have a choice today that they have always had; use your body as a weapon to dominate and thus attempt to become the dominant primordial beast in the neolithic struggle for power, or engage in courtesy, modesty and manners which distinguish the individual as a human capable of love. It's a choice between bovine animalian existence or rational human dignity. Rather simple - always been that way, always will; despite what Hannah Montana and Christina Aguilera say about it (and they're really just saying what their male handlers are telling them to say anyway so maybe the whole thing is ONE BIG CON! which I think it is.)Abecedarius Rexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04389853679255968995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20132742.post-87146720641098802212009-03-01T14:07:00.000-08:002009-03-01T14:07:00.000-08:00"Women are sexier with their clothes on."-Groucho ..."Women are sexier with their clothes on."
-Groucho Marx

Good luck straightening your sister out. We both thought it was so sad. Little Gracie just loves "The Parent Trap" and watches it over and over but now whenever I see it, I just pray for poor lost Lindsay.

That movie makes her look so smart and so talented and so FUN, it's hard to believe that she is now so lost. There but for the grace of God goes all of us.

None of us can say why it happened, anymore than we can speculate on anybody's messy life and problems. But the problem of affluence has a story that we have all heard over and over again. People who suddenly get lots of money for whatever reason get what they call "affluenza" which has many symptoms. The worst symptoms involve all their key relationships changing, losing all their old friends and gaining lots of hangers-on only interested in what the rich person can do for them.

The loneliness is more than some people can stand, so they turn to drugs and alcohol and wild parties because they can afford it and there are plenty of those hangers-on to help you get hooked and messed up.

Many times in my life I have wished for more money. I tell God how much GOOD I could do, if I only had lots of money to lavish on my family, on the poor, on the Church. But God in his wisdom has seen fit to let me be comfortable, but not too comfortable. Maybe he knows what I am able to handle.

Erin, I don't think this is a unique problem of just kids today. But you do well to point out that you belong to a generation of gaps...missing people...the aborted ones. But your generation can change it by showing the world where those longings can be truly satisfied...Geometricushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12608136348402997098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20132742.post-47690938324291491882007-05-04T08:35:00.000-07:002007-05-04T08:35:00.000-07:00`That WAS a narrow escape!' said Alice, a good dea...`That WAS a narrow escape!' said Alice, a good deal frightened at the sudden change, but very glad to find herself still in existence; `and now for the garden!' and she ran with all speed back to the little door: but, alas! the little door was shut again, and the little golden key was lying on the glass table as before, `and things are worse than ever,' thought the poor child, `for I never was so small as this before, never! And I declare it's too bad, that it is!'

As she said these words her foot slipped, and in another moment, splash! she was up to her chin in salt water. He first idea was that she had somehow fallen into the sea, `and in that case I can go back by railway,' she said to herself. (Alice had been to the seaside once in her life, and had come to the general conclusion, that wherever you go to on the English coast you find a number of bathing machines in the sea, some children digging in the sand with wooden spades, then a row of lodging houses, and behind them a railway station.) However, she soon made out that she was in the pool of tears which she had wept when she was nine feet high.

`I wish I hadn't cried so much!' said Alice, as she swam about, trying to find her way out. `I shall be punished for it now, I suppose, by being drowned in my own tears! That will be a queer thing, to be sure! However, everything is queer to-day.'

~Alice: Book I; ch 2Abecedarius Rexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04389853679255968995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20132742.post-83840155615666680472007-05-01T22:57:00.000-07:002007-05-01T22:57:00.000-07:00i know that this is really obvious in your post b...i know that this is really obvious in your post but you are what you want to be and if you put your mind to you can do anything. and you have so much talent that your range of possibilties is unlimated. there is something that you are struggling with that i cannot understand. all that i can do is wish the best for you. keeping you in my prayers.Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12825985471266262220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20132742.post-73334457284757911432007-05-01T06:31:00.000-07:002007-05-01T06:31:00.000-07:00Hmm...
